Laser Therapy

Dentistry is evolving. There are a number of care options and procedures available to you now that simply didn’t exist thirty years ago, let alone ten years ago. One of these major advancements is the development of laser dentistry. LANAP is a premium quality dental experience offered at The Dental Lounge for our clients which are both discerning and deserving of the highest level of service and dedication to excellence. This is why we pursue our passion for state of the art dentistry with an added dose of vigor and commitment. We pride ourselves on our empathy, discretion, and the adoption of innovative methodologies that allow us to give you the care you deserve.

What Is LANAP?

The LANAP protocol, or “Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure”, is a gum and periodontal disease treatment protocol that uses a dental laser, specifically the PerioLase MVP-7, to perform minimally invasive procedures in order to selectively remove diseased or infected cells from the underlying connective tissue. This is done in order to address advanced stage  (moderate to severe) gum disease. It is the only treatment protocol that has received FDA clearance (for True Regeneration) and has been scientifically and clinically proven to regenerate both soft tissue and bone. The three key components for the reinstitution of full oral function that it addresses are:

  • New periodontal ligament
  • New cementum
  • New alveolar bone

Majorly, this means that you are able to regenerate your own gum or dental tissue without the risks associated with traditional periodontal surgery.

Benefits Of Laser Dentistry

Minimally invasive techniques are extremely popular with dental patients since the fear and sensitivity around dental procedures has often hindered their care. There are a number of benefits to laser dentistry or LAS such as:

1. No Need For Patient To Stop Blood Thinners 100% of The Time

Lasers provide the benefit of not only removing the bacteria but also killing them. This helps reduce bleeding and swelling of gums. It may even eliminate the need for further gum disease treatment such as gum surgery.

2. Shorter Healing Time

The laser causes minimal post-operative discomfort and pain because there is less trauma to the gums, bone, and surrounding areas since there is no requirement for cutting or stitching of the gums as used in traditional periodontal surgery. We have a “Same Day No Pain” philosophy that means that you can expect a recovery period of less than 24 hours unlike traditional surgery where recovery can take several weeks.

3. Minimally Invasive

Lasers are less invasive and eliminate the need for scalpels or any grafting materials. Lasers do not cause gum recession or tooth sensitivity like traditional methods. Therefore, patients can heal faster and without pain!

4. No Harm to Healthy Tissue

Highly effective treatment of periodontal disease and restoration of healthy gums – since laser surgery is extremely accurate, you lose less gum tissue during the procedure (only diseased or damaged tissue is removed) so you also have a lower risk of infection caused by the exposure of your roots.

5. Minimizes Risk of Bacterial Infection

Laser therapy sterilizes the area thus lowering the risk of bacterial infections.

6. No need for regeneration through foreign materials

helping your own body restore itself by stimulating its natural processes instead of manipulating the response with artificial growth factors is a win-win situation

Dentistry Your Cardiologist Approves Of

If you have concerns around dental surgery, oftentimes we find that it is due to issues surrounding cardiological concerns. Want the good news? Our laser procedures are recommended and approved by cardiologists!

For one thing, you won’t have to stop taking blood thinners if they have been prescribed to you for fear that the side effects of increased bleeding could affect your dental procedure. Many of our esteemed patients are currently undergoing chronic treatment to treat their cardiological and heart health. With a minimally invasive procedure that produces a limited amount of bleeding and wound creation, it really is the best choice in many cases to ensure access to high quality dental care. Another benefit is that the body undergoes less trauma and shock which is also beneficial to those patients who are not able to sustain extended periods of treatment.

Premium Dentistry

The reality of advanced dental care is that the services offered are exclusive to a limited number of dental surgeries – those that have taken the mantle of being at the forefront of dental technology and development. The Dental Lounge is one of approximately only fifty practices in the state of Florida that has the appropriate equipment to perform this level of surgery. Naturally, this means that there is a limited availability for the service but it is well worth the premium care you are given at this level. Personalized dental care requires not only a well-trained hand but an absolute passion for excellence too, which is exactly what you receive at our advanced care level.
